The project is being managed by the Forestry
Commission with Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway, Dumfries
and Galloway & Borders Tourist Boards, Scottish Enterprise
Borders, Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries & Galloway Council,
Scottish Natural Heritage, Solway Heritage and the Heritage Lottery
Fund.
All the partners joined forces to raise
£1 million towards the initiative however match-funding
from European structural funding brought the £2m project
to life.
Dramatic landscapes, steep sided valleys,
great food and places to stay, and of course local ales, make
the South of Scotland a must visit destination for mountain bikers.
With mile upon mile of fantastic biking
trails in stunning locations this is truly Scotland's biking heaven.
It's an area which is easy to get to and only an hour or so from
the north of England and the major Scottish cities. Day trips
are simple but why not stay for longer and take in more singletrack?
On or off the bike you can take a closer
look at what the area has on offer. There's an abundance of forest
or hill tops walks with plenty of wildlife and places of interest.
